5Y – CRAZY RIGHT?

May 23, 2025

As many of you know, I am a reluctant blogger on social media platforms. However some milestones are worth celebrating especially when they reflect the collective effort of countless people. Five years ago, we embarked on the Indeez journey with a mix of excitement, humility, and a healthy dose of nerves, not knowing what life has in store for us.

Every wise mind advised us to delay, given we were just about entering the uncertainty of Covid. Government offices were closed making basic administrative tasks like registering the company and hiring people a challenge. Also, there was the question of where to set up the company and endless pros and cons of various geographies. Fast forward to today, the challenges have not abated, but I feel grateful that life has been kind enough to take us through those learning experiences. Grateful for the investors who believed in the eccentricity of our undertaking and mentored us through the rough and tumble. As a team, we have developed a distinct character to turn challenges  into opportunities to leap forward and upward.

Success brick by brick

What’s driven our success so far? We continue to build the new, and build relentlessly, with lessons from  the past. Building strong networks and partnerships, asking the tough questions that spark pivotal change, making difficult business and people choices in face of adversity, and fostering an execution culture with a healthy dose of humility, all matter more than where we set up shop. It’s about staying true to the vision while balancing agility and staying grounded, especially when the founding values and ethos are challenged.

Premium business in Insurance

How do you build a premium business as an insurtech start-up? Here Indeez provided another key learning; true premium isn’t just about being unique. For our clients and customers, it’s about delivering tangible value – through cost, technology, new business models and the power of our network partnerships. It helped that we focussed on solving new and emerging customer risks whether it is developing  income insurance in case of Covid infection in Europe, or launching the first EV specific insurance for car owners in the GCC markets. Defining ‘the premium’ in our business, is an outcome of our choices and actions we take, going where the markets take us – as opposed to relying only on strategic brainstorming studies.

Pursuit of entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is invariably lonely in its pursuit, but it’s the people – the colleagues, the partners, the investors and others in the community – who make every step in this journey memorable irrespective of their relationship to us 🙌. Managing culture is a continual labor of love – never enough, never getting done and always evolving. Not every ‘people and business’ decision turns perfect, but the grind is necessary to polish the stones, as Steve Jobs famously put it.

Like jazz, no two days have been the same, and therefore never a dull moment. And similarly the feedback from the audience – colleagues, customers, clients and investors – is pretty much instantaneous and on point. We have experienced that in face of a steady medium to long term gameplan, the short-term has always resolved itself.

Primed for take-off..

2025 has been a breakout year for us in more ways than one. With our business growing quarter over quarter, our motivations and north star are clearer than ever. Next week, we’ll be sharing a glimpse of what’s next for us-and I can’t wait for you to be part of it. 🌟 Stay tuned!
